How to Capture Your Farm Using Google Earth for Wi-Fi Mesh Coverage with PAStech Rural
Follow these steps to map your farm on Google Earth so we can assess your Wi-Fi mesh coverage needs:
- Open Google Earth:
- Navigate to the location of your farm. For example, if your farm is in Bundaberg, Queensland, search for Bundaberg.
- Set Up a Project:
- Click on the “Projects” icon.
- Select “New Project” and choose “Create Project in Google Drive.”
- Name your project (e.g., “Test Farm”).
- Draw Farm Boundaries:
- Click on “Draw a line or shape.”
- Start by selecting a starting point on your farm.
- Outline your farm by clicking at each corner or significant point.
- Complete the shape by clicking on the starting point.
- Name this shape (e.g., “Farm 1”).
- Click “Capture this view” to save the boundary.
- Mark Important Points:
- Identify key locations like pumps, significant features, or points of internet access.
- Click on “Add placemark.”
- Place the marker on the map and name it (e.g., “Pump 1”).
- Click “Capture this view” to save the location.
- Repeat for Other Features:
- Continue to mark other important locations, such as:
- Additional pumps
- Internet access points (e.g., “House with Internet Access”)
- Continue to mark other important locations, such as:
- Export the Project:
- Once all points and shapes are marked, go to the project menu.
- Select “Export as KML file.”
- Save the file to your preferred location (e.g., Documents or Downloads).
- Send the File to PAStech:
- Email the saved KML file to Steve French at steve.french@pastech.com.au.
- We will use this file to build a quote and determine the best coverage solution for your farm.
